Funeral services for Salome Tovar, 78, of Floyd, NM will be held at 2:00 PM, Fri, July 6, 2018 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Floyd Cemetery with Juan Tovar, Jonathan Vasquez, Juan Sanchez, Juan Sanchez, Jr. and Julian Tovar serving as pallbearers.
Salome Medrano Tovar was born Jan. 1, 1940 in Campos, Tamaulipas, Mexico to the home of Maria Medrano and Tiofolo Tovar, and died at his home in Floyd on the evening of July 1, 2018. Mr. Tovar came to the US in 1970 to do farm work. On Oct. 19, 1993, in McAllen, TX he was married to Elizabeth Juarez. They lived in a number of locations until 2003 when they came to the Portales area. He was employed on area dairy farms to tend the newborn calves. Mr. Tovar was an avid Bible student, and was always ready to share his faith and talk about the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of their home; his son and daughter-in-law, Juan and Patty Tovar of Portales; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Dora and Beto Garcia of Dallas, TX, Olga and Oscar Villareal of Springdale, AR, Karina and Jonathan Vasquez of Portales, and Monica and Jessica Tovar of Floyd; 9 grandchildren, including Aaron Herrera, Marcos, Eli and Alissa Villareal, and Salma,Julian, Juan, Janney, Maite, and Christopher Tovar; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Maria Medrano Tovar of Mexico.
